How Just Met collects, uses and protects your information.

1. Who we are
Just Met is an online speed dating platform based in Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and your rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information we collect
When you use Just Met, we may collect:
- Account information: your email address, password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
- Profile information: first name, age, suburb, a short bio, interests and an optional photo
- Event preferences: gender identity and who you are interested in dating
- Event participation: which events you book, attend, and your yes/no responses to other participants (kept private; see Section 4)
- Expression of interest: if you submit a pre-registration form, we collect your name, email, age, gender and dating preferences
- Payment information: payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details
- Support messages: if you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence
- Technical data: basic session and usage data collected by our hosting and authentication provider (Supabase)
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Process event bookings and payments
- Run and facilitate live speed dating events
- Send match emails: your profile details (name, age, suburb, bio, photo, email address) are shared with another participant only when you have both indicated a mutual match
- Respond to support requests
- Improve the platform and events over time
- Notify you of upcoming events if you have registered interest
4. Yes/no responses
Your yes or no answer for each participant is private. It is never shared with the other person unless you have both answered yes for each other. In that case, both of you receive the other's profile details by email.
5. Third-party services
Just Met uses the following third-party services which may process your data:
- Supabase: database, authentication and file storage (hosted on AWS infrastructure)
- Daily.co: video provider for live event sessions
- Stripe: payment processing
- Resend: transactional email delivery (match emails, notifications)
- Vercel: web hosting and deployment
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We choose providers that meet reasonable data security standards.
6. Cookies and browser storage
Just Met uses a session cookie managed by Supabase to keep you logged in. This is essential for the platform to function. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies.

7. Data retention
We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal information from our active systems within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain records.
8. Your rights
Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or out-of-date information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Make a complaint if you believe we have handled your information poorly

9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with the revised date. Continued use of Just Met after an update means you accept the revised policy.
